Antes de las actividades de análisis y línea base y de la colocación del "sniffer", la Compañía ABC debe proveer a Optimum lo siguiente:
a) Diagramas lógicos de las redes locales (LAN por sus siglas en inglés) y de área amplia (WAN por sus siglas en español) detallando:
1) tecnologías de los circuitos LAN/WAN (ejemplo Ethernet, Token Ring)
2) ruteadores centrales, conmutadores y concentradores
3) subred y la arquitectura de ruteo incluyendo los protocolos de red y ruteo en
uso (ej. IP, IPX, VINES)
4) comunidades de usuarios claves, troncales, anfitriones ("hosts") y servidores
b) las velocidades de los enlaces y modos de transmisión
c) diagrama de la planta de cable físico (ej. canales de fibra disponible y/o puntos de cable de par trenzado -UTP por sus siglas en inglés- entre ubicaciones de equipos)
d) el horario más conveniente o horas de menos impacto para interrupción del servicio o para insertar.
